WENTWORTH — By the middle of the year, North Carolina’s largest Head Start/Early Head Start program, Guilford Child Development, will expand its services to Rockingham County, the agency announced Thursday.

The multifaceted child development and family services program plans to provide an educational boost to 116 underserved Rockingham children at a critical time in their development — between birth and age 3 — GCD said in a news release.

The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, today announced that the team’s 175 three-point shots made at the 2021 NBA G League single-site raised $1,000 for Guilford Child Development (GCD) via PNC Bank. For the third season of the relationship, PNC made a $3 donation for each 3-pointer made by a Swarm player with the total contribution rounded up to $1,000 for the local nonprofit.

Through the relationship between the Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, and PNC Bank, a $1,000 donation will be made to Guilford Child Development, a local nonprofit in Greensboro.

The contribution to GCD stems from a season-long promotion where PNC Bank would donate $3 for every three-point shot a Swarm player makes at home in 2019-20.
